你支起身体，顺着线缆看到了它的源头：一台液压机，油缸已经扭曲着损毁。堆满了房间的机器被头顶的信标以固定的频率照亮。各种趁手的工具、化学化合物、激光切割机，全都破损不堪，活像一间凌乱儿童房里的玩具一样丢得到处都是。在房间正中放着那颗玛瑙宝石，它毫发无伤。

你跌坐在椅子上，转向前方的办公桌。文件从文件夹中撒出，上面满是影印的日志条目、历史报告和宝石的图解。

一封信摆在其中一个文件夹上。

你拆开了它，第一百次。

Yvette，

你看到这封信的时候，我应该已经做完记忆删除，在一家名字首字母是“S.C.P.”的餐厅干活了。这没什么好意外的，我明白，但我意识到自己非常担心你和你的未来。

那就是个骗局。那里什么都没有。我的青春年华全花在了这上面，但你的还剩下几年。明智点，不要再浪费你的时间了。

你打开抽屉，取出一把钥匙，把它和图纸上的设计图样进行比较。下一把也试过了。再下一把也是。你挣扎着试图找出一把还没测试过的款式。你复查，再三检查，然后用力甩上了抽屉。你把头埋入双手间。“那儿肯定有什么东西。随便什么都好。”你说。你透过指缝向外一瞥，注意到了台灯下铺开的一张纸。

是那最后一页的复印件，嵌着钥匙的宝石，Edwin Young在几个世纪前的旅途中画下的那张。Edwin Young，在“被诅咒”的神庙中找到了那颗宝石的人。Edwin Young，许诺了那把简简单单的钥匙存在的人。Edwin Young，从不需要为他看到了什么给出证明的人。

你抓起宝石，猛地掷到了对面的墙上，然后跌倒在地，把自己揉成一团。

Q刚来一个星期就能看出食堂里哪些人在胡搅蛮缠。他能在一公里外就嗅到一场风暴。但谁又能说这能帮助他对抗那无边无际的实体呢？与他正相反，Stimson几乎能信任上他遇到的每一个人。他钉死了自己的命运。再没有其他人知道Site-10的存在了。或许O5们会知道。但谁又能说得准那群O5在哪——

咔哒。

你挣扎着转过身，看到了破碎的锁。细小的碎片滑落到地上。一团气体与光芒扩散开来，然后消散在了空气中。在那宝石的残骸上，躺着一把金灿灿的华丽钥匙。

“不可能。”你说着，一边捡起了它。它摸上去好烫。
